Letters to the editor

The article by Nizar Diamond Ali on 'Branchless Banking' was an interesting read. I am glad that @internet has such good writers on its board who can pen such informative and interesting articles. Good job Nizar.

It's never been an easy task to stop reading the monthly issues of @internet magazine. The magazine provides so much entertainment and knowledge every time. Its quiet a strange thing having junk food advertisements in IT related magazine. It will be good if you upload monthly issues on your website and provide invitation to your readers to attend IT related exhibitions and seminars like ITCN ASIA, launching IT products, gaming competitions and etc

Kashif Shahid

Thank you for your appreciation Kashif. Regarding you point on advertisements of food stuff in @internet, all magazines carry ads, and without them survival is tough. Every business needs revenue to survive, be it print or electronic media. Imagine a newspaper, magazine or TV channel without advertisements and only matter, it would be nothing but boring. As for uploading complete issues of @internet on the website, would we survive by just having the entire issue on the website? This would actually kill the whole sense of having a magazine in print.

I am an annual subscriber of your magazine for more than two years. But now I have started feeling that your magazine has shrunk a lot. It is less than 100 pages most of the times and if I exempt commercial pages than the number will fall even further. Although you people are providing very good stuff but it is very less and usually we can read the entire issue within three days. Another things is that in your software section i.e. Hot Downloads, you people review those softwares which other magazines have already covered in their past issues.

Kamran Malik

Kamran we try our level best to include as much stuff as possible in our issue. But again as I mentioned in my reply above, we need revenue to keep us going, without which it would be impossible to bring out a complete IT magazine. As for the software reviews, we try to include the software which is latest and is useful for our readers. And again we only include the software which are available for free and not the paid stuff. So if other magazines have already included reviews of such software it is nothing but coincidence. But we highly appreciate your suggestion and will make sure such coincidences do not happen often, thank you for your comments.

I have become a regular reader of your magazine over the last year and find it extremely interesting and informative. Hats off for the good work and keep it up. In the July 2009 issue of your magazine there was an article on Windows dock in the Webolution section which really appealed to me. I was wondering if you could feature a similar article on Widgets in your forthcoming issues. I've tried to get widgets from the internet but did not achieve much success. Looking forward to your article on widgets. Thanks

Junaid

Thank you for the appreciation Junaid. We are happy that you liked the Dock article in @internet. An article on Widgets sounds like a very good idea, lets see if we can do it in the forthcoming issue. Thank you for your suggestion.

'What are Pakistanis searching for on the Internet'…well I was surprised to find that none of the search terms included in the top ten list, was useful. I saw nothing on education or knowledge being searched for. Is this what we use the internet for? It would be nice if you could print similar results for other countries in the region too.

I loved the Samsung Star review in the August issue of @internet. Being extremely informative, I was happy that finally someone thought of introducing a touch screen mobile phone which is within the common man's reach. I bought the Star after reading the review and I am happy that I did. Great job guys, keep it up.

Rauf Ahsan

I am glad that you liked the Samsung Star review Rauf. The Star surely a wonderful phone and at 15,000 rupees it has almost everything a cellphone user would want in a phone sans the Wi-Fi. And I am sure if Samsung claims that it has sold more than one million units of this phone, it must be something good.

I liked the 'Mobile Phone Applications Grow Up' article in the August issue of @internet. It was a very informative article and I never knew such stores existed which provide free and paid software for their customers. I tried the Ovi store for my Nokia phone and I am happy I read it in my favorite magazine @internet.

Hasan Ali

I am glad you liked the article Hasan. Keep reading for more such interesting stuff.

The Cover Story on 'Podcasting' by Mr. Zaki Rashdi was extremely well written and I loved every page of it. Mr. Zaki has a wonderful way of writing and every story by him is more informative than his previous one. We need people like him to educate our younger generation which misses out on the good uses of the information superhighway. Please pass on my appreciation to Mr. Rashdi for a wonderful effort.
