I bought a new PC which has a 250 GB hard disk. At the time of installing the operating system I asked the person who was installing it to make a 100 GB drive for me and size of the rest of the drives should be equally divided into the partitions. But he accidentally created C: 100 GB and the other drives i.e. D: E: 25 GB. Now my question is there a software with which I can resize the partition on the C: drive without formatting my entire hard disk and make a new drive?
Subhan Khalid

Partition Magic is the software you need to resize, create, delete and almost do anything you want with the hard drive without formatting or deleting data.

I am using Dell Optiplex Gx 260, Intel Pentium 4 2.66 GHz and Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2 with MAXTOR STM3250820A 250GB hard drive. Lately I had my Hard Drive replaced because the older one was all burned up. Now when I try to reinstall Windows XP, it doesn't work. After showing, 'Windows is inspecting your hardware configuration' for a few seconds then the screen goes blank and I have to restart my PC. Can you please tell how to solve this problem, also note that I have tried using several other copies of the Windows XP OS of which none work.
M. Sheharyar Javed

This looks in all probability to be a hardware issue and could be associated with the PC's hard drive. Since you mention in your query that the computer stops responding when it inspects the hardware, you should have the hard drive checked by your vendor. If you bought a new hard drive, you can have it exchanged by the dealer since Maxtor carries a one year replacement warranty.

I am using a motherboard of Intel D946GZIS, 4GB of Ram DDR2 and Windows XP Professional as operating system. Previously I had a system Ram of 2GB DDR2 of 667MHz bus speed then I added a new Ram of 800MHz bus speed DDR2. The problem is it is showing 3.25GB of Ram in the 'system properties'. I checked my BIOS but that is showing 4GB of ram correctly. Both of the Rams are working fine. Is it due to operating system which is 32 bit? Or it is the motherboard which doesn't support 800MHz.
Kaiwan Nazir

No need to worry Kaiwan. This looks like Windows cannot recognize the two different bus speed Rams. But as long as the PC's BIOS is showing the right amount of Ram, you don't need to worry on that.

I am facing a technical problem with ashes cricket 2009 game in Windows Vista SP2, when I runs this game on Vista its loading hangs up my system and it take s a very long time to actually run this game. While if I run this game on Windows XP SP3 it runs perfectly fine. My question here is how can I run this game smoothly in Windows Vista? I have also installed latest Nvidia drivers on my system and also using Directx 9.0c but problem remains the same. I cannot understand why the game hangs on Windows Vista SP2, my system configurations are Intel Board DG33, Processor Core 2 Duo 3.0, 4 GB DDR 2, Grafix Card 9600 GT.

Did no one tell you that Windows Vista is the most resource hungry operating system ever created? It literally drains the system's processor and memory which does not leave much to be used by other software or games. If you are happy with running the game on Windows XP, I would advice you to stick to XP since it is a much more reliable operating system than Vista. With your high-end system you should be able to run almost everything available on the market. Let's hope Windows 7 turns out to be the better OS than Vista and restores Microsoft's credibility which was lost with Vista.

I have Intel Dual Core Processor @ 2.5 GHz with 2 MB L2 Cache and 800 MHz FSB and 1 GB of system memory. I heard many people saying Windows XP Professional x64 edition is better than Windows XP 32-bit edition. So, I installed Windows XP Professional x64 edition but I could not find any difference. Instead, many programs which run properly on Windows XP 32-bit edition are not compatible on this version of Windows. Please advise me how Windows XP x64 is better than Windows XP x32.

In simple terms, the data path on a 32-bit operating system is half the size of 64-bit operating systems. In layman terms think of it as a 32-lane highway vs 64-lane highway: twice as much traffic can use the highway at any given time. In the computer world, however, in order to take full advantage of the 64 lanes you need specially designated cars that are capable of using the extra lanes. In order for a 64-bit version of Windows to be of value to you, you will also need a 64-bit processor and 64-bit versions of the software that you plan to run. Without all three, you would be wasting your time. The problem you are facing is due to non-compatibility of software with the 64 Bit version. Here I would advice you to stick with the 32 Bit version which offers compatibility with almost everything.

I am using a PC with a 3.6 GHz Processor and 512 MB of RAM. I am tired by an error generated by an IM client called Beyluxe Messenger. Whenever I sign in, Beyluxe messenger opens smoothly but as soon as I join a room, an error appears and the connection is lost. I uninstalled and reinstalled but no solution
Ghulam Rasool

Never heard of this IM client Beyluxe Messenger, I did search the Beyluxe website but unfortunately could not come up with a solution for it other than the messenger wont work if you have an AVG Anti Virus installed on your PC.

I want to upload my picture in Facebook. But I don't want that anyone of my contact can copy or save my picture in their computer, how I can do this?
Hina Kazmi

Unfortunately there is no such way to protect your photos in Facebook or for that matter on any other Social Networking website. The most you can do is watermark the pictures using a free software like one called MyToolsoft Watermark Software: www.freedownloadscenter.com/Multimedia_and_Graphics/Graphics_Editors/Mytoolsoft_Watermark_Software.html.

I tried to connect to Internet using dialup modem; it halted my computer so I restarted it. Somehow Windows got corrupted and when I tried to reinstall Windows XP, I couldn't because instead of installing Windows in normal routine (which takes 10-15 minutes), it took too long to install Windows. I also removed modem from the Motherboard, it didn't work.
Arslan Mughal

Now this is strange. How can a dialup connection corrupt an Operating System and even if it did, how would it prevent you from reinstalling the OS. Since I don't know your system specs, I was wondering if you formatted the hard drive or not before installing the OS and if you did, did you scan the partitions for viral activity? Please do as advised and if you still face problems, write back to us and we will see what we can do.

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz E7300 processor with 1 GB RAM and 160 GB HDD. My question is that when two anti viruses work side by side does it cause the computer to hang? Because my PC hanged when I installed NOD32 when I already had Norton Internet Security 2007.
Rehan Abbasi

It does not really help having two antivirus software on one system. This could cause your PC to crash more often since both antivirus software work on different patterns. Here I would advice you to get rid of Norton Internet Security since it heavy on system resources and NOD 32 works equally well. Being light on the system it has a rating of around 95% on netting viruses with an updated virus definition of course.
