Letters to the editor

This is my first letter to any IT magazine in Pakistan. Although I read many other similar magazines, I find @internet to be the best among the lot. I had one complain from @internet, it takes a long time for it to reach Sadiqabad, Punjab, due to which we cannot participate in Net Quiz contest as per the mentioned deadline. Would you kindly look into this matter and make sure that it reaches our city on time. Thanks.
Shahid Hussain Soomro

Our apologies for the inconvenience caused to you Shahid. Had forwarded your complain to our circulation department which looks after distribution and they assured us that they will look into the problem and have it sorted out as soon as possible.

I am great fan of @internet magazine and I think that it is the only computer magazine in Pakistan which keeps us informed and updated about the latest developments and happenings in the world of information technology. And the best part which I like about @internet is that besides IT, it also provides entertainment in the form of latest news, movie and games reviews which is very different from other similar magazines in Pakistan. Do keep up the good work.

I really liked the 'Hot Tips' segment in Octember's issue of @internet. I have been a Windows XP user for quite sometime and was sick of its user interface but also did not want to switch to Vista. 'How to Keep XP Running in a Windows 7 World' was a very informative article which made me try out new things without having to wait for the latest operating system from Microsoft. Here I also believe that Windows 7 is going to another resource and memory hungry OS like Vista which made it a total failure. I guess that is one of the biggest reasons which make XP the best available OS so far.

Thank you for the appreciation Nasir. Let's hope Microsoft does not repeat the mistakes and learns from Vista. As per recent previews and blogs, Windows 7 is the next big thing from Microsoft where one top level Microsoft executive even called Vista a "less good product" meaning Microsoft has finally realized that Vista did not do well. Expectations are running high with 7, lets keep our fingers crossed…

Octember's E-Tech article on 'Retrieving Deleted Data on the Windows OS' was an interesting read. I never knew that data stays on the hard disk even upon a full format which I believed wiped everything off. Since we are a private security provider company and often upgrade our hard drives for increased storage capacity, we will now have to make sure that we get our sensitive data wiped off with special software. I would like to thank you Ramiz Qureshi for a very informative article.

Nizar Diamond Ali's article on Google fuelling up the cloud computing revolution was an interesting read. Written well, this article was short yet easily conveyed the author's viewpoint on how operating systems of the future could be. After reading the article, I was convinced that OS monopoly by giants like Microsoft would soon be a thing of the past and cloud computing revolution would revolutionize the way we compute.

I have been regularly reading Rahiel Nasir's 'Tech Talk' and really like the way the guy writes. With a good command over the latest technological happenings in Europe why doesn't he branch out into other things like doing cover stories and other similar segments for @internet? I would also like to see more stuff from Nizar Diamond Ali who also has a unique writing style and puts his viewpoint across in the easiest of words. Good job guys keep us posted.

Game Review segment is getting boring and monotonous. Why don't you guys bring about a change and include games which are for everyone and not just hardcore gamers which seems to be the case with @internet. What you can do here is go around the market and check out for the local releases here rather than going for the international stuff which is meant for gamers with high-end machines. After reading a couple a reviews a few months back, I bought a game as per the system requirement but sadly it never worked on my Pentium 4 machine. Turns out that it had the minimum system requirement. You guys need to make sure print the difference between minimum and optimum system requirements. I hope you'll sort this out.
Harron Ahmed
Thank you pointing that out Haroon. This is indeed a mistake on out part where we should be marking a difference between required and recommended system requirements. This usually happens due to shortage of space but we will soon sort that out really soon.
